The session would be about 90mins and then we gonna have a guided tour to the (super cool) simulation hardware and play some games.

Beer would be served (if you bring some..).

GarageGeeks and Yossi Vardi excited to host Allen Hurff, the Senior Vice President of Engineering at MySpace.

The event will take place at the GarageGeeks HQ at 40 Hapeled St, Holon on the 24/3 at 20:30.

Allen Hurff will discuss “Open Platform” + “Open Stack” + “OpenSocial”:

MySpace’s evolution thru “Open” and the road ahead. Since it’s inception, MySpace has been a place for embedded widgets. In 2007, MySpace helped to form OpenSocial with Google, Yahoo, Ning, Hi5, Plaxo, and many others to extend beyond the simple functionality of the embedded widget to a platform that is more deeply embedded into the ecosystem of social networking at it’s core. In early 2008, MySpace released it’s MySpace Open Platform (and Developer Platform) based on OpenSocial v0.5. MySpace spent 2008 evolving it’s Platform while also working to evolve, spec, and release several updates to the OpenSocial Spec. MySpace also spent 2008 working with the “Open Stack” community by implementing and often times directly contributing to; oAuth, OpenID + OAuth Extension, Portable Contact, Activity Stream Spec, OpenID UI/UX Working Group, and XRDS-Simple.

HA-KIR
music   art   motion
“HA-KIR” is an interactive project that incorporates music, art and motion. Its purpose is to allow anyone to create music in an easy, fun and intuitive manner, by touching a wall. The touch and movement create sounds, which are completed by visual traces.

Operator
What would you be willing to tell a stranger?
AA is a communication device that disconnects the message from the speaker, creating a new experience of sharing that mixes anonymity and voyeurism.

Musical Chairs
A project exploring the playful aspect of music.

On a stage are seven objects. Whenever someone sits on an object, the sound of a musical instrument is played. The seven objects in the emergent lounge space become a platform for a jam session. The interaction between the users and the object, and between the different users, creates an interesting musical and interpersonal happening.

Un-mute
Ever stood in line behind very annoying people and wanted to say something, but just couldn’t bring yourself to say it? Ever got stepped on by someone, and just didn’t have the guts to say something about it?

UNMUTE is a portable device which helps to overcome our tendency to become a “social mute”. It enables us to express emotions in different situations by using dynamic sounds, which are controlled by an easy-to-learn language of hand gestures.
